Currently searching for my next opportunity at the intersection of climate, creation, and content marketing
Hi, I’m Christine.
I'm a multilingual content writer helping mission-driven brands grow their brand awareness using storytelling through a multicultural lens.
My writing and ocean activism journey began in college at Florida State University after watching the documentary, The Cove. I began speaking around campus and soon after started a blog critiquing sustainability documentaries and films.
While receiving my Master's in Environmental Management and Sustainable Development at St. Edward's University, I learned about the mission and values of the founders of my alma mater, The Congregation of Holy Cross. A Holy Cross education helped me embrace a regenerative lifestyle through the lens of my faith: the importance of building community, connecting people back into nature, living your faith in action, and working together for the common good.
After graduating, I went on to work with various environmental non-profits around the world helping them increase their brand awareness and digital presence through communications and community building.
Eventually, I decided I wanted to start my own business as a writer to help other mission-driven companies make a deeper impact through content writing and multicultural marketing.
I’m now looking for my next content marketing leadership role where I can help bring awareness and visibility to innovative social and economic solutions for a regenerative future.
Opportunities I’m Exploring.
Opportunities I’m Exploring.
1.
Work with a company or organization creating and producing content writing and storytelling pieces to expand their work through blogging, email marketing, reports, case studies.
2.
Work with a company or organization to develop and execute a consistent marketing funnel- voice of client interviews, brand messaging guides, content calendars, and other digital marketing strategies.
3.
Work with a company or organization to develop an active and engaged community building strong and collaborative brand partner and stakeholder relationships.
As a content writer and passionate ocean advocate, I help mission-driven brands grow a diverse and engaged audience through multicultural storytelling to catalyze a community of active followers, partners, and donors.
With a background in both environmental management and communications, I love bridging the gap between business and climate action, diversity in community engagement and ocean conservation, as well as faith and reason.
My mission is to encourage and inspire others to live a more conscious and purpose-driven life.
With the climate crisis and environmental degradation accelerating more and more every year, those most vulnerable impacted the worst, and society living without any convictions or purpose for something outside of themselves, my mission-driven storytelling serves to inspire more actions and initiatives rooted in purpose, values, and ethics for our environment and humanity at large.

The Values that Guide my Ship to Shore
-
We’re willing to dive under the surface to see it all because it's not until we’re out of our element, that our eyes are opened to the majestic beauty and mysteries of life.
-
We bear witness to the fullness of truth with everything we do.
-
We know that the surest path from division to lasting solutions is to sit with the people on the ground, checking the pulse and listening with intention.
-
We’ve learned that the Spirit of harmony settles on us when we listen, when we make space for each other, and when we choose intimacy over discord.
-
Every word we write and story we tell is in service to the One who holds us all together.

Ocean Culture Life
Feature for OCL’s Ocean Storytellers
Christine grew up in Atlanta away from the ocean, but after many coastal trips to Florida, she knew that she needed to give the ocean and the mesmerising creatures that live there a voice.
Christine hopes to tell the biggest stories of our time, the stories defending nature and the ones that encourage us to look beyond ourselves and into the wonders that exist past our own comprehension.
Her experience of living in various countries has helped other environmental organisations build brand awareness and strengthen the impact of their audience through multicultural content writing and storytelling. From the dolphin-filled coasts of Sardegna to the last virgin forest of Costa Rica’s central valley, she has worked across the world helping real-world projects lead real-world change.

Sabor de Sobremesa
Sobremesa might have a different meaning in every Hispanic community, but it’s always about finding ways to keep the night going.
We partnered with Food & Wine and Rémy Martin to interview chefs and personalities in four different cities uncovering how they experience la sobremesa in their culture and how they celebrate their Latino roots in their cities.
The Marine Diaries
Red Tide, Not My Vibe
“I recently went to the beach with my family in northern Florida to celebrate my sister's birthday. But this particular trip was different. By the end of the second day, we all started noticing that everyone was coughing. Even the dogs were sneezing. My eyes were itchy and bloodshot red for most of the day.
The next morning, my dad went for a walk about 5 miles from our beach entrance and sees a dark red patch in the ocean. He decides to ask a local about it: “It's the pine trees dyeing the ocean red,” the locals said.
That didn’t sound right to me, so I looked up the Florida Fish and Wildlife Red Tide Current Status in our area.
Sure enough, it was red tide.”

The Meaning of Costa Rica’s Pura Vida, According to a Tica
Costa Rican culture is known around the world for its laid-back, warm, welcoming atmosphere—this tiny Central American sliver of land is rich in biodiversity and friendly people. Christine Lacayo writes about her experiences visiting and living in her mother’s country and describes what the nation’s signature catch phrase, “Pura Vida” (Pure Life), means to her.
In between the lines
I’m drawn towards companies and organizations that are passionate about using storytelling to mobilize an audience in creating meaningful solutions for the health of our ocean and our people.
I want to work with a small team of growth and development managers, designers, copywriters, business development, project managers, along with founders and c-level executives. I feel comfortable with fellow misfits, challengers, and others filled with positivity and hope for a better future.
I'm currently looking for remote work until I find my next home base.
I'm looking to work in a company or organization with 10–30 employees with a range of ages, ethnicities, genders, backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.
Ideally, a space that nurtures a creative and playful work environment celebrating out-of-the-box ideas and experimentation.
